Documents go missing from Env. & Forest Dept: ASKA
ITANAGAR, Jun 03: Arunachal Shito-
ASKA in a release alleged that, the documents of some of the eligible candidates under meritorious sports quota submitted to the department have reportedly been found missing from the office file for which, it calimed, the department is not conducting the recruitment process since last two years. “The fact was revealed after the department failed to furnish documents of those candidates as sought by one of ASKA officials through RTI,” the release claimed.
ASKA strongly condemned the Dept. of Environment & Forests for this gross negligence and appealed to the Govt. to take immediate action against the officers and officials responsible for it.
It further appealed to the Arunachal Olympic Association (AOA) and other state sports associations affiliated to AOA to intervene in this matter for early conduct of the recruitment process by the department concerned.
36th Bn CRPF celebrates 44th Raising Day
ITANAGAR, Jun 03: The 36th Bn of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) deployed at Tirap and Longding, celebrated its 44th ‘Raising day’ with a two day programme on June 1 and 2 with much fanfare.
A fair with various food stalls, games and musical cultural programme was organized at the battalion headquarter at Khonsa.
Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker W. Lowangdong attended celebration along with Tirap SP Vikramjeet Singh and other civil dignitaries and public leaders. The Speaker lauded the 36th Bn CRPF for their service to the nation and contribution towards development of the people within their area of operation.

GIFCC discusses policies
ITANAGAR, Jun 03: Galo Indigenous Faith and Cultural Council (GIFCC) has discussed policies and programmes in its meeting held at Naharlagun today.
Addressing the meeting GIFCC president Nyamo Dojeh and secretary general Hendo Taipodia stressed on the need of united efforts for promotion and preservation of Galo indigenous faith and culture.
GIFCC Treasurer Gobom Ete emphasized on proper coordination for effective working of Kargu Gamgi, Local Prayer Centre of Galo Community. Among others, Jumbi Karbak, Secretary (Women Wings) GIFCC also spoke in the meeting which was presided over by GIFCC spokesman Dr. Tai Nyori.
Contractors resent corrupt practices
ITANAGAR, Jun 03: All Arunachal Contractors Welfare Association (AACWA) vigilance cell today urged the authorities to stop corrupt practices in the Govt departments.
The vigilance cell of the association in a release today alleged that many departments in the state are awarding contract works with total violation of official formalities and established rules. Such illegal distribution of contract works results in low quality works and also hampers development process, the release said. It department high level enquiry in to such bad practices and stop the salary of Govt staff who demands commission from the contractors in regard to contract work.
BDO clarifies allegations
ITANAGAR, Jun 03: The Block Development Officer, Mebo Circle in East Siang district has refuted the allegation of fund mismanagement.
Reacting to a news item published in this daily on June 2 under the headline “RTI activist lodges FIR against officers” the BDO clarified that there is no room for mismanagement and misappropriation of fund/schemes.
The BDO said that after inspection of the buildings by Planning Officer, payments were made by higher authority and the buildings were also handed over to the respective Department after completion.
The BDO appealed to the activist to refrain from such baseless allegation adding that mere unfounded allegations on doubt tarnish the image of a sincere Government servant.

Bamin villagers decry drinking water problem

RUKSIN, Jun 03: Drinking water scarcity is a perennial problem for the villagers of Bamin under Bilat circle in East Siang, which is causing a great deal of dissatisfaction among the villagers.

The villagers of Bamin village have blamed the negligence of the PHED officials for scarcity of water. Though there is a PHED section office at Bilat, not a single official resides therein to look after the water supply system, they say.
It is said that the pipeline, which is connected to 1000 litre reservoir at Peneng river, has failed to supply adequate water to the village, causing immense suffering to the residents.
The villagers further allege that the supplied drinking water is unhygienic and without proper treatment which is causing many water borne diseases. The Pa:sak portion of Bamin village are worst sufferers of the problem.
“About 112 families of my locality are worst sufferers… We are seeking help from the local student union’s to press the concern department for improving the water problem and also seeking action against the PHED, Pasighat Sub division for allegedly neglecting the water supply system”, said Neyi Taloh, a lady Anchal Samity Member of Bamin (Pa:sak).
“Water supply to Pa:sak portion is inadequate. Though a water tap is installed here
but it is not dependable at all. I collect water from Peneng river for consumption

AYSU demands for immediate posting of regular DC in Lower Subansiri
ITANAGAR, Jun 03: All Yachuli Students’ Union (AYSU) has demanded the state government to immediately post a regular deputy commissioner (DC), preferably an IAS cadre, at Lower Subansiri district.
Describing the problems faced by the general public in getting their officials works done due to absence of a regular deputy commissioner since the transfer of former deputy commissioner Nila Mohanan, AYSU president Toko Nega urged the authority concerned for posting of an experienced/efficient administrator, preferably an IAS cadre in the post considering the general sensitivity of the district.
He also appealed for creation and making appointment to group ‘C’ and ‘D’ posts in

ITANAGAR, Jun 03: A day after a reported tension shimmered at Nomara in Dissing

Speaking to this daily here this afternoon over telephone East Kameng deputy commissioner Tope Bam said that there is nothing to worry about it as he has already directed the additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Seijosa to assess the incident. Accordingly, ADC along with police personnel rushed to the spot today to take stock of the situation and would submit the reports very shortly.
Bam further quashed the report of prevailing tension in the area following the incident. However, he confirmed the confrontation between Adivasi mob and local people but, he said, subsequently it was brought under control by the Assam police and CRPF personnel.
He disclosed that Sonitpur (Assam) deputy commissioner and superintendent of police were so cooperative during the incident. The DC informed that he himself and SP are maintaining close coordination with Sonitpur DC and SP in Assam and updating the situation. The DC said there is no need to worry about it. He further informed that already a joint meeting of SPs and DCs of both Sonitpur (Assam) and East Kameng has already been fixed at Bhalukpong later this week. The DC appealed to people not to give false information on incident as boundary is very sensitive issue which could aggravate the situation. It is said that the incident broke out when a group of Adivasi temporarily settling under local people’s land as tenants were asked to vacate from the land by the local people.
Meanwhile, All East Kameng Border Students Union today demanded immediate deployment of police force at the area to instill sense of security among the local people. The Union also demanded the state government to provide immediate relief to the local people.

Addressing the participants as resource person, Techi Ragi, NNCS Project Officer requested them not to dispose the human excreta in open area as it causes communicable diseases. Ragi said that every individual should have own toilet and in an endeavour to help the community maintain good health and hygienic life, the Govt has come up with Individual House Hold Latrine (IHHL) scheme in every village. He called upon every individual to construct latrine under the IHHL scheme.
Nangbia Amar Dui, Chairman NNCS called on the community to make sure about the proper output of the TSC scheme. He called upon the PRI leaders to involve themselves for successful implementation of the TSC and also urged the department concern to implement the IHHL scheme properly.
Among others, Tana Nido, ASM Toru panchayat also spoke on the occasion.
The resource persons also interacted with the villagers of the three Panchayat and found that the villagers are facing problems due to lack of proper sanitation, safe drinking water, sanitary latrine. The GPM Chairperson of the Pawar panchayat, Tana Sinda requested the government to look into the matter at the earliest to stop water borne diseases especially during the rainy season.
The HGBs, GBs, and PRI leaders and members of different farmer’s club and SHG leaders took part in the awareness programme and requested the department concerned to start IHHL mission immediately.

Preparation turmoil
Dear Editor,
I’m a UPSC aspirant from Mirsam village, Pasighat. It is a good environment for students to study. However, the power supply is not supporting me to prepare for competitive exams. There is no electricity, even though if it comes it gives very low voltage. As a result, I’m not able to watch news channels nor surf the internet. About the dailies, it comes late, some dailies even don’t reach here, which is a disadvantage for preparing the highest level of examination. Facing all these difficulties to collect information, I bought a radio so that I can at least get the information from there. To my surprise, the station is always bad with lots of statics and most of the times it doesn’t even broadcast. These are the basic gadget for preparation, which I am deprived of. Pasighat, the oldest town in Arunachal Pradesh is really becoming old, feeble and weak. It is not letting the younger generation grow and avail the equal opportunity what others have.
